About Us

Hawaii Coconut Protectors is the Hawaii division of Coconut Protectors. Our main goal is to help stop the spread of Coconut Heart Rot on Hawaii and start reforestation projects.

Hawaii Coconut Protectors was started by Philippe Visintainer in conjunction with the University of Hawaii, in January 2000, when about 15% of all the coconut trees on the islands’ started to die from the disease. They worked together to find a preventative serum to inject into the uninfected palms to keep them from getting heart rot.
